At CloudExpo, we demonstrated how xStream™ implements a comprehensive set of enterprise security and compliance, which now includes implementation of Intel TXT, to manage trusted resource pools. Virtustream allows certification (and auditing) to meet the latest cloud standards: healthcare (HIPPA), e-commerce (PCI), industry (SSAE, ISO), government (DIACAP, FISMA, FedRAMP, g-cloud) and security agencies (DIACAP).
In this talk, Virtustream’s Pete Nicoletti SVP Value Engineering and Chief Information Security Office, Dr. Peter Jaeger, describe how running SAP HANA on Virtustream’s cloud platform is more secure with Intel® Xeon® processor-based technologies.
The goal of xOps is to provide service providers with a probabilistic view of future consumption of each resource pool in their network. Based on this probabilistic forecast, the service provider can now make decisions based on each individual workload based on how they’d like to configure the reservation limit given the particular level of risk they are willing to accept.
The most efficient way to optimize infrastructure is by using a standardized unit of measure that accounts for the most critical attributes affecting workload performance in a data center: These include CPU, Memory, Network Throughput and Disk I/O. The core cloud innovation that differentiates Virtustream is it's MicroVM (µVM). Our xStream Cloud Management software provisions and manages resources based upon consumption of µVMs using algorithms that consider capacity and predict demand.
The OpenSLL Heartbleed bug was recently discovered by industry experts as a major vulnerability impacting the security of systems running OpenSSL version 1x. This vulnerability puts usernames, passwords, and other sensitive data at high risk and can be easily exploited by a malicious attacker. With ERM and Continuous Monitoring and Management, the remediation efforts of a system-wide and urgent vulnerability notification can be handled promptly and efficiently. Detect vulnerable servers with ACE - Virtustream's Analytics and Continuous monitoring Engine.
Virtustream and Intel deliver Enterprise Class Cloud. By enabling Trusted Computing, using Intel TXT and Virtustream xStream Cloud Management, companies can begin to securely migrate applications to the cloud. Companies can also encryption their data in the cloud by taking advantage of Intel AES-NI, significantly reducing the latency and overhead typically associated with advanced encryption algorithms.
Virtustream has worked very closely with Intel to be the 1st Cloud Computing provider to embedded policy-based security and trust into their Cloud Computing platform. This is accomplished by enabling both Geo-Tagging and Geo-Fencing, using Intel TXT, for security policies around computing resources.
