Key to winning the enterprise: Differentiated cloud computing SLAs
Cloud computing is no longer a sandbox for test and development. Enterprises want to move mission critical workloads to the cloud like Microsoft and SAP and in doing so, they are looking for metrics around application performance and response times to become part of the service level agreement (SLA) process. That’s a sharp contrast to what is provided in most cloud computing SLAs today, which lack the necessary assurances for moving critical data and applications to the cloud.
Currently, a cloud service provider SLA typically covers a fairly narrow set of parameters: uptime, performance and response time and basic infrastructure security, with a service credit applied for the number of hours an outage goes over the agreed SLA. But the conversation among IT pros moving to the cloud is shifting to the availability requirements for a specific workload and how to match that to the appropriate cloud infrastructure. There is more to it than using different priority levels for restarting virtual machines. In 2012, expect aggressive cloud service providers to offer SLAs that cover the entire application stack.

Cloud Computing in the PUBLIC SECTOR Conference
The Cloud Computing Association (CCA) is proud to present the Cloud Computing in the PUBLIC SECTOR Conference scheduled for April 16-17, 2012 at the Downtown Hilton in Miami, FL. The conference will target top administrators and information technology executives responsible for the strategy, planning, and management of cloud-based technology solutions. The conference will cover when and how educational institutions and local, state and federal agencies will adopt cloud-enabled products and solutions or how they will advance their already substantial investments in cloud-based technologies.
Sean Jennings joins the panel session on Cloud Strategy Architecture & Design:
There is a lot of discussion about implementing the cloud and what category of service you will use be it SaaS, PaaS or IaaS. The panel will discuss and explain the benefits of the cloud computing, and how to overcome the hurdles municipalities face with a move to the cloud. It will also address how to transform desktops and applications into universal groups in the cloud. And finally, the session will also explain why this should also a major consideration when developing the enterprise architecture.
