Virtustream Federal Cloud Receives Provisional Authority to Operate From FedRAMP Joint Authorization Board

FedRAMP certification assures federal agencies of Virtustream’s commitment to delivering a trusted cloud

Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C - Wednesday, June 10, 2015 - Virtustream, the enterprise-class cloud software and services provider, has received a Provisional Authority to Operate (P-ATO) from the Joint Authorization Board for the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP). The FedRAMP P-ATO is a declaration that Virtustream has implemented the appropriate cloud infrastructure security posture to comply with the FedRAMP security requirements for providing cloud services to federal agencies.

The certification is a significant illustration of Virtustream’s commitment to deliver secure cloud and related services to both enterprise and federal customers. With FedRAMP authorization, Virtustream’s Infrastructure-as-a-Service offerings have now attained a moderate impact level assurance rating, meaning US civilian agencies can migrate and operate critical workloads to its IaaS cloud environment immediately.

Virtustream joins a distinguished list of cloud providers who boast FedRAMP compliant cloud environments, as fewer than two dozen cloud providers are currently certified to offer Compliant Cloud Systems with a JAB provisional Authorization.

“Federal organizations increasingly want to migrate their critical infrastructure to the cloud due to its increased efficiency and cost-effectiveness,” said Jim Kaufold, EVP, Federal at Virtustream. “But this shift can’t happen without the highest level security assurance. Having met FedRAMP’s rigorous standards for security, we are eager to help federal agencies move to the cloud with confidence.”

Coalfire, an accredited Third Party Assessment Organization, conducted Virtustream’s FedRAMP assessment and will perform the ongoing validation of our Continuous Monitoring processes.
