Rory Read

President

Rory P. Read is Chief Operating Executive, Dell. In this role, Rory applies his executive leadership strength and operational expertise to critical areas of our business, driving key transformational objectives. As President of Virtustream, Rory is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of the company, driving business execution excellence and extending Virtustream’s market leadership position as the cloud service and software partner of choice. Through a relentless focus on our customers, Rory is dedicated to growing the base of enterprises, strategic service providers and government agencies worldwide that trust Virtustream to run their mission-critical workloads in the cloud.

Rory also serves as Executive Vice President of SaaS integration platform leader Dell Boomi, helping drive rapid growth and market share gains in this critical integration platform segment.

Previously, as Chief Integration Officer, Rory led the historic September 2016 transaction to combine Dell and EMC into the world’s largest privately controlled technology company. As Chief Operating Officer, Dell EMC, Rory was responsible for strategy, planning, operations and key transformational initiatives. And as President of Dell Worldwide Commercial Sales for Dell, he built and managed Dell’s best-in-class sales engine, and delivered the strategy for Dell’s global channel, partner and direct sales efforts.

Rory has more than three decades of global technology industry experience. Before joining Dell, he served as chief executive officer, president and member of the board of directors of AMD. During his tenure, he diversified the company’s portfolio to produce $2 billion in revenue from new businesses, initiated the next-generation Zen chip architecture and restructured AMD’s debt profile, returning the company to profitability.

Previously, Rory served as chief operating officer and president at Lenovo, where he was responsible for driving growth, execution, profitability and performance across a Global 500 enterprise encompassing more than 160 countries. Additionally, Rory spent 23 years at IBM, serving in various leadership roles.

Rory graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in information sciences from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York.

Deepak Patil

Senior Vice President of Product and Technology

Deepak Patil serves as Virtustream’s Senior Vice President of Product and Technology, and is responsible for designing the solutions that enable our global clients to drive business value and IT transformation. Deepak is a proven leader in the cloud space with over 20 years of experience creating and scaling very large cloud platforms and services. He has pioneered several unique and creative ventures that shifted business paradigms to deliver competitive differentiation for his customers. 

Prior to joining Virtustream, Deepak served as the Vice President of Oracle Cloud Development, where he was responsible for Oracle’s Infrastructure-as-a-service platform as well as leading Oracle’s engineering investments for industry verticals.

Prior to joining Oracle in 2016, Deepak spent 16 years at Microsoft Corporation in various engineering leadership roles. He was responsible for engineering and operations for several of Microsoft’s large scale online services like Hotmail, Messenger and MSN.com. He was also one of the founding members of the Microsoft Azure platform where he assumed diverse engineering leadership roles focused on infrastructure design; long-range global expansion strategy; capacity and capital planning, and strategic customer engagement. As a result of this work, Deepak designed and delivered one of the largest infrastructure platforms on the planet and led Azure to become one of the fastest-growing businesses in the history of Microsoft.

Deepak is a graduate of the College of Engineering in Pune, India.

Chris Ewart

Chief Financial Officer

Chris Ewart is Virtustream’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), responsible for the company’s financial functions on a global scale, including accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, corporate reporting and tax.

Prior to joining Virtustream, Chris served as Senior Director of Finance at Dell Technologies.  Chris managed the financial oversight of the Global Deployment and Field Services Businesses, with $1.7B in annual revenue.  

Before his time with Dell Technologies, Chris spent nearly 20 years at EMC where he held various operational and finance roles including leadership of the Global High End Storage Support and Global High End Storage Manufacturing Finance Teams. Throughout his career, Chris has also been very active in mentorship and sponsorship of various finance leadership and development programs.

Chris holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University and an MBA from Northeastern University. 

Todd McNabb

Senior Vice President, Global Sales

Todd McNabb is the Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Virtustream, responsible for driving Virtustream’s global growth strategy and market leadership by delivering and supporting the full range of Virtustream’s Cloud Services and Software solutions. He is also responsible for ensuring that Virtustream’s customer facing and service professionals understand, communicate and deliver the unique value Virtustream brings to its customers and partners.

Before joining Virtustream, Todd led the Global Sales organization for CSC Cloud Business Unit, where he was responsible for the end-to-end strategies to advance the company’s Cloud Computing position in the US, ANZ, EMEA, and APAC. Under Todd’s leadership CSC’s Cloud Business Unit became the fastest growing segment in CSC and was recognized as the market leader for public and private cloud in 2013-2014.

Prior to CSC, Todd spent over a decade at IBM, where he was responsible for executing IBM’s software, hardware, and Global Services strategy to IBM’s largest Global Manufacturing and A&D clients. He was recognized as a thought leader in his practice and received multiple awards for his achievements in high margin growth and delivery excellence.

Joy Corso

Chief Marketing Officer

Joy Corso is responsible for managing Virtustream’s global marketing organization and strategy including brand and creative, product marketing, communications, digital and field and channel marketing.

Joy is an accomplished, results-oriented leader with over 20 years of leadership experience in marketing and communications roles across multiple industries including technology, financial services, healthcare and professional services.  She has deep expertise in building high performing teams, leading through significant change and driving brand engagement across key audiences. 

Prior to joining Virtustream, Joy served as the Vice President of marketing, communications and customer experience for NORCAL Group, where she was responsible for the firm’s marketing programs, advertising, creative services, analytics, events, social media, public relations, corporate communications and customer touch points. She also established and served as the President of the NORCAL Group Foundation.

Her background also includes leadership positions in top tier companies such as Advanced Micro Devices, Raytheon, Fidelity Investments and Iron Mountain.

Joy holds both an MBA and a BS in Business Administration from Providence College. She has served as adjunct faculty at Northeastern University, and is a current member of the Regional Board of Trustees for Make-A-Wish Central and South Texas.

Ryan Fitzgerald

Managing Legal Director

Ryan Fitzgerald is Virtustream’s Managing Legal Director, responsible for leading corporate legal initiatives in addition to advising senior management on company strategies and direction. 

Ryan joined Virtustream in 2017 providing legal support to the Diamond Accounts and Strategic Alliances. Prior to Virtustream, Ryan was Senior Counsel at RSA, a Dell Technologies Business, where he focused on commercial transactions, data privacy and other corporate matters.

Ryan began his legal career as an attorney at McDonald Hopkins LLC in Cleveland, Ohio. In this role, he counseled businesses on commercial and intellectual property litigation matters. 

Ryan earned his Bachelor of Arts in government from Georgetown University, his Master of Business Administration from the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Notre Dame Law School.

Trisha Ellis

Human Resources Lead

Trisha Ellis is the HR lead for Virtustream, bringing to the role a proven record of accomplishment leading the Human Resources (HR) function for global technology organizations.

Prior to Virtustream, Trisha held multiple roles at Dell EMC, one of the Dell Technologies family of businesses and a global leader in enabling enterprises and service providers to transform their operations and deliver IT as a service. In her 20 years at Dell EMC, Trisha assisted in combining talent management and HR Services delivery while being a strong partner, advisor, and key influencer to senior executive leaders involved in multiple complex global organizational change management efforts. She is currently also the executive sponsor for the Services Leadership Development Program, and was the sponsor for the HR leadership development program.

Prior to her roles at Dell EMC, Trisha was the Field HR Manager at Rexam Ltd.

Trisha holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management from Bridgewater State University.

Christina Colby

Senior Vice President, Strategic Alliances

Christina Colby is the Senior Vice President of Strategic Alliances for Virtustream, responsible for the critical function of building out indirect channels-to-market for all of Virtustream's offerings.

Before Virtustream, Christina was with Capgemini Group responsible for go-to-market, business development, and solutions for their rapidly-growing, market-leading services business focused on the Insurance segment. In this capacity, she was considered an industry thought leader and delivery expert both domestically and internationally. Prior to that, Christina led a business information management capability for Capgemini Financial Services. She also served as an executive coach and sat on an advisory team for digital transformation.

Earlier in her career, Christina discovered her passion for data and business insights in her role with Adjoined Consulting, a management consulting, technology, and outsourcing firm.

Christina holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Carnegie Mellon University.

Michelle Rudnicki

Vice President, Public Sector

Michelle Rudnicki heads up Virtustream’s public sector business, a business unit that reinforces Virtustream’s commitment to providing the public sector with enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure capable of delivering the guaranteed performance and uptime needed to operate mission-critical workloads in the cloud.

Prior to joining Virtustream, Michelle was Vice President of Public Sector for Industry Solutions with IBM North America Public Sector.  In this role, she and her team worked with Public Sector clients to transform how they interact with their clients, citizens, and patients; progressing their digital services through the use of technology such as analytics, cognitive computing, mobile, and cloud.  

Michelle’s other roles included VP for Cloud Computing for IBM Federal and IBM North America, helping clients during the early adoption of cloud, and VP of IBM Federal Smarter Planet Initiatives, where she worked across IBM’s US Federal organization creating solutions in the areas of cloud, analytics, security, Smarter Cities, and sustainability.

Michelle holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rochester. She serves on the board of YSA and co-chairs the Parents Committee for the Division of Student Affairs for Virginia Tech.

Mike Evans

Senior Vice President, Cloud Platform Operations

Mike Evans leads Virtustream’s Cloud Platform Operations and is responsible for setting the strategy for Global Data Centers and Platform Operations across Virtustream’s Enterprise, Public Sector and Storage Clouds. Through his leadership, he enables Virtustream’s customers to realize business value and outcomes by delivering agile, flexible and secure off-premises Cloud Infrastructure as a Service.

Mike came to Virtustream from EMC where, for the past 16 years, he served in various senior management roles. Most recently, he led the EMC Global Specialty Presales organization responsible for incubating, accelerating and scaling the company’s developing businesses. Mike accomplished this by building strong teams with deep technical expertise, establishing methodical and scalable sales processes and fostering long-term customer relationships.

Prior to his years with EMC, Mike spent 8 years working for IBM, starting out as an Account Customer Engineer and eventually becoming the Service Planning Specialist.

Cherie Whitney

Vice President, Corporate Development

Cherie Whitney is Vice President of Corporate Development and responsible for program implementation and the orchestration of cross functional priorities focused on accelerating growth. Leveraging her role as a financial and operational leader in the technology sector, Cherie has demonstrated the ability to effectively collaborate across global organizations to support and drive strategic initiatives.

Prior to joining Virtustream, she served as vice president of Corporate Development at EMC Corporation and managed the execution of targeted and opportunistic acquisitions, dispositions, investments and joint ventures. As part of EMC’s Corporate Development team, Cherie was instrumental in facilitating over $11 billion in software, hardware and other technology acquisitions, which helped expand EMC’s market position and realize corporate strategic and financial goals. In advance of joining Corporate Development, Cherie worked in the EMC Marketing organization.

Cherie holds an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in international studies from Bentley University, as well as a master’s degree in Communication, Culture and Economics from Georgetown University. She is active in women’s advocacy programs in the technology field and dedicates time to coaching and engaging entrepreneurs in various incubator programs.
