KoçSistem selects Virtustream xStream Software to Power its Enterprise Class Cloud in Turkey

Integration brings Virtustream’s Enterprise Application cloud orchestration and dynamic consumption based pricing to growing Turkish cloud market

Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C - Thursday, May 21, 2015 - Virtustream, the enterprise-class cloud software and services provider, today announced it has been selected by KoçSistem, Turkey’s largest cloud provider and information technology consultancy, to provide enterprise class cloud technologies for cloud services to Turkey’s growing cloud computing market. KoçSistem will integrate Virtustream’s xStreamTM cloud management software across its software integration, business application and data center/cloud services units, the latter of which is the largest in Turkey.

The enterprise-cloud offering will build on KoçSistem’s expertise managing on-premises IT infrastructure with its proprietary productivity and reporting tools and also extend Virtustream’s expertise in managing business-critical enterprise applications in the cloud to Turkey, a country in which the vast majority of enterprise organizations rely on on-premises IT. As Turkish businesses continue to shift their infrastructure to the cloud, there has been a corresponding increase in demand for cloud management platforms capable of migrating business-critical applications from on-premises to cloud deployments with no drop in performance. According to industry research firm IDC, Turkey’s cloud market doubled from 2012 to 2014 and is expected to grow even more in coming years.

“There has been a dramatic shift in Turkey’s IT market in recent years, and cloud has decidedly emerged as the dominant force in computing,” said Gökalp Bahçeli, Assistant General Manager at KoçSistem. “We have succeeded in taking a leadership role in the country’s growing enterprise cloud market thus far, but it’s absolutely critical that we find the right partner that possesses both a deep and proven domain expertise in this realm as well as the ability to scale seamlessly as demand continues to grow. In Virtustream, we have found just such a partner.” Based in Istanbul, Turkey, KoçSistem was founded in 1945 as an extension of Koç Holding Company, Turkey’s largest industrial conglomerate. KoçSistem is the largest cloud provider in Turkey and operates three data centers within the country. Via its technology integration with Virtustream, KoçSistem will unveil a new, usage-based pricing model for Turkish enterprises – the first of its kind in the country. The offering will serve as a natural extension of KoçSistem’s already deep SAP expertise, and will serve as an on-ramp to private cloud for the Koç Group as well and other organizations looking to migrate their infrastructure from on-premises to cloud-based deployments.

“Turkey is currently one of the more dynamic – and currently underserved – markets in the entire world when it comes to enterprise class cloud adoption,” said Rodney Rogers, CEO at Virtustream. “KoçSistem is a proven and well-respected company that has evolved with the Turkish technology market for more than a half-century. We see this as a perfect partnership that will enable them to continue doing just that, while also allowing Virtustream to establish a broader footprint in Turkey.”
