New service offers comprehensive cloud services for mission critical healthcare applications
Virtustream, the enterprise-class cloud company and a Dell Technologies business, today announced the launch of the Virtustream® Healthcare Cloud. The service provides cloud-based hosting of mission critical healthcare platforms and applications on Virtustream Enterprise Cloud in a HIPAA/HITECH compliant environment with managed services and infrastructure availability service level agreements (SLAs) of up to 99.999%. This service can be deployed in public cloud environments with a complementary set of on and off premises managed services.
Healthcare organizations are undergoing a massive digital transformation by expanding their use of electronic medical record (EMR) systems, and integrating their EMRs with new patient engagement systems and analytical precision medicine platforms. Simultaneously, they are faced with personnel and capital constraints that make it difficult and costly to maintain and manage IT on their own.
Virtustream Healthcare Cloud, which is built on Virtustream Enterprise Cloud, is specifically designed for the highly secure, highly compliant, complex IT landscapes and mission-critical applications that are endemic to healthcare. With its consumption-based pricing model and robust security services, Virtustream’s healthcare offering ensures that organizations only pay for what they use while protecting patient health data end-to-end.
“Today’s healthcare sector faces many pressure points. Providers must modernize their IT infrastructure to support their evolving clinical care and patient management systems, while aging infrastructure and limited staff mean they’re often completely consumed with managing legacy day-to-day operations,” said Michael Hoch, vice president, Virtustream. “With our latest offering, Virtustream introduces an enterprise-class solution to manage healthcare’s most complex and mission-critical applications, thus freeing healthcare providers not only to embrace the digital future, but also to focus on their core mission of saving patient lives.”
This new offering will equip healthcare organizations with the optimal cloud infrastructure and managed services needed to manage all of the categories of mission critical applications including EMRs; ERP systems; workforce management systems; precision medicine platforms; picture archive and communication systems (PACS) as well as many other health IT systems. Virtustream Healthcare Cloud fully supports both HIPAA and HITECH compliance, and is designed to deliver rigorous, layered, defense in depth security to protect sensitive patient health information. Virtustream Healthcare Cloud also offers guaranteed in-region hosting, to meet country-specific data residency requirements in all of Virtustream’s global locations.
Virtustream Healthcare Cloud will include a new offering: Virtustream EMR Service for several leading EMR packages. The Virtustream EMR Service will include Virtustream Enterprise Cloud, and optional managed services for technical management of the EMR application suite’s infrastructure, database, application delivery, and data interfaces. This new offering joins the 700+ healthcare and non-healthcare applications (ERP, workforce management, Sharepoint, etc.) already supported in the Virtustream Enterprise Cloud. It is particularly well suited for customers modernizing, or planning to modernize, all or part of their health IT environment.
